A Delhi court granted a two-hour parole to Baramulla MP-elect Engineer Rashid on Tuesday, allowing him to be sworn in as a Lok Sabha member on July 5.
Currently held in Delhi’s Tihar Jail due to a money laundering case related to terror funding, Engineer Rashid sought interim bail or parole from the Patiala House court for his swearing-in ceremony.
The National Investigation Agency's counsel informed the court on Monday that they had no objection to Engineer Rashid being sworn in as a Lok Sabha member. However, they requested certain restrictions, including a prohibition on media interactions.
Engineer Rashid won the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency by a significant margin, defeating National Conference Vice President and former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by over 2 lakh votes.
