Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge took action by appointing senior leaders Bhupinder Singh Hooda and D K Shivakumar to engage with the six MLAs, who reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the leadership style of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and are advocating for his replacement.

The BJP criticized the Congress government for inviting Kaul, insinuating that her views sympathizing with Pakistan and advocating for India's division were in opposition to the Indian Constitution. They questioned the Chief Minister's decision to extend the invitation, accusing him of undermining the country's unity and integrity.

Irani highlighted the absence of remarks from senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, sarcastically referring to him as "shehzada," implying his detachment from the ground realities of the situation. Sandeshkhali, located in North 24 Parganas district, has witnessed unrest for weeks due to protests against TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan and his associates, accused of land encroachment and assaulting local women.

At a press conference held at the AICC headquarters, Congress leaders, including Jairam Ramesh, K C Venugopal, and Ajay Maken, raised concerns over what they perceive as attempts to undermine democracy.

The decision, made earlier this month, was based on the perceived threat level against Kharge. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandos will be responsible for providing Z-plus security to Kharge nationwide, the sources added.

Nath, a nine-time MP from Chhindwara and currently MLA from the seat, is a former chief minister who was removed as the party's state president following the Congress' dismal performance in the November Assembly polls.

During his brief interaction with journalists, he urged them not to become overly excited. When questioned directly about his rumored switch to the BJP, Nath replied, "If there would be any such thing, I would inform you first." 

Nakul Nath, the solitary Congress Lok Sabha MP hailing from Madhya Pradesh, had initially planned to continue his interactions with party workers in his familial stronghold of Chhindwara from February 14 to 18. However, he abruptly suspended these engagements and journeyed to Delhi alongside his father. Notably, he also omitted 'INC' from his social media biography during this period.

Ajay Maken, the treasurer of the Congress, initially revealed the "festival of elections" accounts during a press conference. He further informed that the tribunal had imposed a lien of Rs 115 crore on the accounts, allowing the party to utilize funds beyond this amount.

Accompanied by family and party leaders, Gandhi submitted her nomination in the state assembly, marking her first foray into the Upper House after five terms as a Lok Sabha member. Notably, she previously declared this Lok Sabha term as her last, sparking speculation about her future plans.
