Assam Aiming to Become a Global Semiconductor Hub, Says CM Sarma

Taking to X, Sarma wrote: "Assam is now positioning itself as a global hub of semiconductors and an electronic city is being developed in Jagiroad to give momentum to this ambitious plan.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday claimed that Assam will soon emerge as a semiconductor hub and an electronic city is proposed to be built in Jagiroad in the Morigaon district.

Taking to X, Sarma wrote: "Assam is now positioning itself as a global hub of semiconductors and an electronic city is being developed in Jagiroad to give momentum to this ambitious plan.

He also updated on his latest visit to meet the top brass of the Japanese semiconductor industry players.

"To push forward our vision of Semiconductor, we met the leading figures of semiconductor companies- Micron Memory, Ueno Seiki, Tanaka, Tokyo Electron, Renesas Electronics and Enomoto Co in Japan, " he mentioned.
He informed that these six are the world's top leaders of semiconductor industry. We had many productive interactions during my visit in Japan with the respective leaders, he added.

We look forward to partnering with them during the upcoming #AdvantageAssam2 Summit in February," he added.

A big investor summit—Advantage Assam is set to be hosted in Guwahati in February. Sarma earlier said that this summit is set to bring more investments in the state.

He mentioned that more government jobs and entrepreneurship support will be provided to the people of the state.

He said the two-day event would focus on showcasing the traditional Jhumur dance of the tea tribe clans on February 25 and 26.

"This summit is a platform to showcase Assam's rich traditions to a global audience apart from attracting investors," he added.

A grand Jhumur dance with over 7,500 dancers and artists will be showcased in the program. It will be a spectacular performance, the Chief Minister said.

Master training workshops, constituency-level sessions, district-level performances, and final rehearsals in Guwahati will ensure perfect execution, the Chief Minister added.

He said Advantage Assam was the second version of the International Investors' Summit, which he launched in 2018, is meant to increase infrastructure development and investment in the state.
