Twitter halts its account verification programme again
The announcement came after Twitter admitted last month it permanently suspended a "small number" of fake accounts it mistakenly verified after re-launching its public verification programme. "We've temporarily hit pause on rolling out access to apply for Verification so we can make improvements to the application and review process," the company said in a tweet late on Friday.
Apple further allay fears on iCloud child abuse detection tool
Last week, Apple confirmed plans to deploy new technology within iOS, macOS, watchOS, and iMessage that will detect potential child abuse imagery. The company said in a post that it is making contrast changes on all buttons to make them easier on the eyes "because you told us the new look is uncomfortable for people with sensory sensitivities". OPPO patents vein unlocking tech for its wearable devices
The company has patented a vein unlocking tech, which is likely a form of a biometric security system, GizmoChina reported on Friday. The new technology has a patent number of CN110298944B and describes a "Venous Unlocking Method and Vein Unlocking Device." Oppo had applied for this patent back in 2019, which was only recently granted. As per the description, the patent is for a vein unlocking technology.
5G carrier biz, R&D investment to help Huawei thrive: Report

Disney+ reaches 116 mn subscribers: Report
In its earnings report on Thursday, the company said that across Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu, Disney reported a total of 174 million subscribers. Disney also beat estimates on earnings and revenue, boosting the stock by about 6 per cent in after-hours trading, reports CNBC. Analysts remain optimistic that Disney+ will reach its goal of 230 million to 260 million subscribers by 2024.

Google bans location tracking tool that sold Android users' data
According to a report in Motherboard, SafeGraph whose whose investors include a former head of Saudi intelligence, was one of several companies that collected geolocation records through plug-ins in other Android apps. "SafeGraph markets its data to government entities and a wide range of industries, but it also sells the data on the open market to essentially anyone," the report said on Thursday.
