While Usha is from Kerala, Ilaiyaraaja hails from Tamil Nadu, Heggade belongs to Karnataka and Prasad is from Andhra Pradesh. President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday accepted the resignations of Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Steel Minister R.C.P. Singh from the Union Cabinet and asked Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Jyotiraditya M Scindia to hold charges of their portfolios. Naqvi and Singh quit as Union Ministers on Wednesday - a day before the end of their Rajya Sabha terms.
Ailing Lalu Yadav to be shifted to Delhi for treatment

According to sources, preparations for the same have already started and an air ambulance is expected to reach Patna airport shortly. The air ambulance is likely to take off for the national capital at 4.30 p.m. Lalu Yadav's wife former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, sons Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav and daughter Misa Bharti will also accompany him in the air ambulance apart from expert medical team and crew members.

Police officials confirmed that Salman is not a religious leader, but a history-sheeter of the Dargah police station and has been a criminal. There are more than a dozen cases registered against him for murder, firing, assault and intimidation. On his mother's complaint, Salman Chishti was arrested by the Dargah police station on charges of breach of peace. He is accused of attempting to evict his mother from the house by intimidating her.

Opposition to decide on its V-P candidate

The opposition is contemplating putting up a joint candidate so that it can pose some challenge to the ruling party candidate. Sources in the opposition said a joint candidate will be fielded for the post. However, the opposition has very less chance to do so since in this election the voters are the members of Parliament only and the BJP has a huge mandate in the Lower House while in the Upper House it is the single largest party having more than 95 seats.
