UBT (SS) head Aaditya Thackeray stressed the importance of eradicating terrorism in all its forms and tweeted, "Tonight's targeted strikes in PoK are against terrorism, and salute to the Indian defence forces for keeping it targeted to areas where terrorism was being sheltered. Congress leader Imran Pratapgarhi tweeted, "Jai Hind, Hindostan Zindabad" from his X handle.
The Indian Army had already established that nine terror camps in Pakistan were struck in retaliation to the Pahalgam attack in which 26 civilians, who were predominantly tourists, were killed.
In a statement, the Army explicitly stated: "Recently, Indian Armed Forces executed 'Operation Sindoor', in which terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK) where attacks on India have been launched and orchestrated has been targeted."
The Army also tweeted on X and wrote, "Justice is Served. Jai Hind."
The Army's spokesperson explained that the attacks were calibrated, non-escalatory, and targeted. "No Pakistani military targets have been hit. India has practiced very high levels of restraint in target selection and tactics," the spokesperson explained.
The attacks were a targeted retaliation for the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, where 25 Indians and one Nepali national were killed.
We are reaffirming our promise that those who were behind the attack will be brought to justice," the Army asserted, further stating that a complete briefing on the op would be issued later.
In Pakistan, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed the strikes, referring to them as a "cowardly attack" after tensions between the two nations escalated following the militant attack in occupied Kashmir.
The missile attacks hit Kotli, Bahawalpur, and Muzaffarabad targets.
