Bollywood actress Kiara Advani walked the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala, making waves as she flaunted her baby bump in a bold ensemble by well-known designer Gaurav Gupta. The event was held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Kiara went to Instagram to reveal her red carpet dress, sharing a sequence of stunning photographs in the bespoke Gaurav Gupta couture gown titled Bravehearts. Her gown was a gold carved breastplate with double heart patterns on it, representing mother and child, and an ivory flowing white cape.
The actress complemented her post with an emotional caption: "Mama's first Monday in May." Her actor spouse Sidharth Malhotra followed her lead on Instagram Stories, posting the photos under a heart symbol and captioning: "Both brave hearts."
Fashion designer Gaurav Gupta, who had last dressed Alia Bhatt for her Paris Fashion Week debut, described the inspiration behind Kiara's look. "Kiara Advani (@kiaraaliaadvani) in custom Gaurav Gupta Couture titled Bravehearts at her Met Gala debut. A tribute to defiance, legacy, and beginnings," he said. "Bravehearts is inspired by the philosophy of the Black Dandy — those who broke the rules and rebooted culture with elegance, fortitude, and uniqueness."
Gupta continued to explain the symbolism of Kiara's pregnancy deeper. "Over expectant Kiara Advani, the look acquires deeper meaning; symbolising how identity is passed on and reinterpreted generation after generation. In its simplicity, a gold carved breastplate with two hearts – mother and child, bound together by a non-descript umbilical cord. She is draped in a dramatic white cape à la André Leon Talley's 2010 Met Gala look — the garment is armour and offering.".
Gaurav Gupta's creations have been sported by an array of international icons such as Beyoncé, Shakira, Jenna Ortega, Jr NTR, Bebe Rexha, Sharon Stone, Ashanti, Luis Fonsi, Lizzo, Kylie Minogue, Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, Paris Hilton, Mindy Kaling, Angela Bassett, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Kriti Sanon, Janhvi Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
The 2025 Met Gala celebrated the theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," acknowledging style and ingenuity in menswear fashion.
