Delhi to Implement Odd-Even Scheme from November 13 to 20, Announces Minister

During a press conference held after a high-level meeting involving Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other senior officials, Rai confirmed, "Given the severity of air pollution, the Odd-Even vehicle system will be in effect for one week, starting from November 13th to November 20th."

Due to the escalating air pollution levels in the national capital, Delhi's Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, announced on Monday that the odd-even vehicle restriction system would be enforced in the city for a week, running from November 13 to November 20.

During a press conference held after a high-level meeting involving Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other senior officials, Rai confirmed, "Given the severity of air pollution, the Odd-Even vehicle system will be in effect for one week, starting from November 13th to November 20th."

He said that there is a complete ban on firecrackers. "Despite the ban of firecrackers, today we have directed the police to be alert as there is Diwali and World Cup match and then chhath puja," he said.

Rai said, 'We also appeal to the BJP governments in the BJP-ruled states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to ban the firecrackers to control the pollution.

"During the meeting it was discussed that the pollution may rise in the national capital after Diwali. So a day after Diwali the odd-even scheme will be launched for a week," he said.

Gopal Rai further elaborated that the odd-even scheme would be enforced from November 13 to November 20, and a review of the situation would be conducted afterward.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had convened a high-level meeting at the Delhi Secretariat, bringing together the Environment Minister, senior ministers, and state government officials to deliberate on strategies to mitigate the air pollution crisis in the national capital.
