The air quality in Delhi-NCR remained in the 'severe' category on Sunday, with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 482, according to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
Specific air quality readings in various parts of Delhi were as follows:
- Aya Nagar: PM 2.5 at 416 and PM 10 at 440, both in the 'severe' category, while CO was at 126 in the 'moderate' category, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
- Bawana: PM 2.5 reached 500 in the 'severe' category, PM 10 was at 482, also in the 'severe' category, and CO was recorded at 105, in the 'moderate' category.
- Dwarka sector 8: PM 10 at 500 and PM 2.5 at 465 ('severe'), while CO was at 105 in the 'moderate' category, and NO2 was at 54 in the 'satisfactory' category.
- IGI Airport T3 area: The air quality was 'severe' with PM 2.5 at 495 and PM 10 at 454, while CO was at 104 ('moderate') and NO2 touched 32 ('satisfactory').
- ITO: PM 2.5 was recorded at 420, placing it in the 'severe' category, PM 10 reached 298, categorized as 'poor', NO2 was at 104 ('moderate'), and CO was recorded at 102 ('moderate').
- Lodhi Road: The AQI with PM 2.5 concentration was at 417 under the 'severe' category, while CO was at 125, in the 'moderate' category.
These air quality readings reflect the persistently poor air quality in various areas of Delhi, prompting concerns about health and safety. Efforts are ongoing to address the severe air pollution issue in the region.
