Prime Video on Wednesday announced that its popular show Panchayat will come back for its highly-awaited fourth season on June 24.
The popular cast returns, with Jitendra Kumar reprising his role as Abhishek Tripathi. He will be accompanied by Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, and Sanvikaa in their recurring roles.
Panchayat, co-created by Deepak Kumar Mishra and written by Chandan Kumar, revolves around Abhishek Tripathi, an engineering graduate who, with no other job opportunities available, finds himself as the secretary of a panchayat office in the village of Phulera, which is in Uttar Pradesh.
In a press release, Prime Video labeled the new season as having "new challenges, old characters, and a rich infusion of humor, all covered up in the simplicity and understatement that characterizes rural life."
In the buildup to that, the platform also released the trailer for Season 4, which sets the stage for a ferocious political battle between Manju Devi (played by Neena Gupta) and Kranti Devi (played by Sunita Rajwar).
"With rally songs, lofty promises, and plenty of fanfare, the village becomes a thrumming battlefield. As both sides dash to outdo and out-fence each other, Phulera becomes a carnival of chaos," the official synopsis disclosed.
Series writer Chandan Kumar spoke about the making of the show, stating, "What makes this series stand apart is the way each season naturally unfolds—building organically from where the last one left off while still having space for the journey to go on. Our task continues to be keeping the story fresh, by adding new characters and dynamics, and making sure it remains in the emotional arc of Phulera."
Neena Gupta, discussing her character's development, sharing, "Season to season, it's been wonderful to see her evolve from hesitant pradhan to assertive voice in Phulera's affairs. Every chapter of Panchayat deepens not just rural life but every character's growth. Season four has surprising turns—therefore, the story is even more engaging."
She has also shared how fulfilling it's been to bring to life Manju Devi, who is now one of the show's most beloved and endearing characters.
