Sunita Ahuja Blames Govinda’s Close-Knit Circle for 17 Years of Box‑Office Drought

In a chat with The Powerful Humans, Sunita wasn't holding back as she laid the blame for his stagnation as a professional on the close-knit clique that are around him.

In a fiery and emotional outburst, Govinda's wife Sunita Ahuja has spoken out in a withering critique against the actor's closest confidants.

In a chat with The Powerful Humans, Sunita wasn't holding back as she laid the blame for his stagnation as a professional on the close-knit clique that are around him.

"Why hasn't Govinda been spotted in 17 years? The issue is that his group is a wrong one," she asserted, speaking out what many fans have resented for long about the actor's extended absence from films.

Sunita openly confessed that her constant arguments with her husband are because she speaks the truth, adding, "Today my quarrels with him are because I can't lie and I do not enjoy flattery."

Refusing to mention any names, she vented her anger against four of the persons who are now close to Govinda—a writer, a musician, a secretary, and a lawyer friend. In her opinion, their continuous praising is playing a more harmful role than a positive one. "They are of no use. They only say 'wah, wah!' If he makes music, they say 'wah, wah. kalam kar diya.' They should tell him the truth. When I tell him the truth, he gets upset."

Sunita also drew attention to Govinda's refusal to follow modern entertainment trends. Even as digital platforms and new modes of storytelling are in vogue, she said he clings to the 1990s style. "I tell him it's the 90s era finished. It is 2025. See what is working on Netflix and digital platforms," she said, voicing concern over what she called his "wah, wah production."

She emphasized that Govinda's ability and popularity are not questionable. Rather, she thinks the problem is his unwillingness to change and the echo chamber surrounding him. "I told him, change your set. For as long as you have these 4–5 people, they won't let you move ahead," she cautioned.

Govinda, who was a reigning king of Hindi cinema during back-to-back hits such as Coolie No. 1, Partner, and Dulhe Raja, has had intermittent appearances in films in recent years. His last big release, Rangeela Raja (2019), didn't make an impact at the box office.

Sunita's comments have soon gone viral, provoking hot discussion regarding the actor's disappearance from the scene and renewed public interest in whether or not a comeback may be in the cards—if only the appropriate adjustments are implemented.
