Viewers of The Great Indian Kapil Show were thrilled to learn from Netflix that Navjot Singh Sidhu will be returning in the third season after a long wait. The ex-cricketer turned politician is back on the show as its regular guest after a six-year gap, much to the excitement of old-time fans.
Ahead of his official comeback, Sidhu uploaded a vlog to his YouTube channel, where he reflected on his contribution to Kapil Sharma’s career and the origins of the show.
According to Sidhu, he played a crucial role in shaping Kapil’s journey to hosting his own comedy program more than a decade ago.
“I suggested Kapil Sharma to work on the show’s format and how he should present it. When I arrived, we did not have a guest. I recommended him to feature Dharmendra on show, and he did. When he arrived and gave behind-the-scenes stories from his life and career as an actor, it shot the TRP of the show to a whole new level," Sidhu remembered. He continued, "I had to exit the show for reasons political.". Since then, individuals missed me on the show and asked me to return on the show."
He also talked about the sea of love he got from the fans on a one-time visit along with his wife, which he stated was a turning point towards his complete comeback. "On the public's demand, I made a rare visit on the show with my wife and the love I got was too much. Now, after I am coming back to the show it is like a home run for me. Ghar wapsi."
Sidhu also spoke about his views on Archana Puran Singh, who had taken his place upon his leaving. As opposed to rumors of a replacement, Sidhu made it clear that he wanted her to stay on the show. "When it came to Archana Puran Singh, I just said one thing, 'I am a devotee of Goddess Durga, how can I be the reason for her losing her job? I asked the producers to retain and her and now both of us will come on the show together. We are together at last.
