Chennai colleges root for data science in Covid times

Since the advent of Covid, business and education have shifted in large volume to the online platforms and digital technology and hence data sciences would be the hot subject in the days to come, say experts. Dr M.R. Manikantan, Principal of a Private college in Chennai told IANS, "We have already applied to the Madras University for sanctioning for a course in BSc data sciences which would give a strong foundation for the students and equip them to take on the challenges in the digital sphere.
SC declines to stay HC order allowing pvt schools to charge annual fee, development charges

A bench headed by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar said: "We are not inclined (to stay the order)." Senior advocate Shyam Divan, representing the Action Committee Unaided Recognized Private Schools, contended before the top court that the High Court reached an independent conclusion and the division bench is slated to hear the matter on July 12.

ICAI CA Exam 2021: 6000 CA students write to PM Modi seeking postponement of examination

The students have written the letter urging the prime minister to take a suo-motu cognizance of the situation and postpone the exams in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. The exams are scheduled to take place in the month of July. The Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) has already registered and issued admit cards for the exams.

A total of 117 teams have been declared winners of Toycathon 2021 under the different themes. Abhinav Basak, one of the three members of team Makersclan and Ph.D scholar at IIT Kanpur told reporters that the team had submitted their game idea in the first Toycathon summit of India on January 5, 2021.
Schools to remain shut, says Centre and states

Ashok Agarwal, All India Parents Association President, told IANS, "According to an estimate, nearly 30 per cent of the students studying in government schools are 'school dropouts'. We should not ignore the fact that the best and the safest place for children is school. The closure of schools for a longer period of time has given rise to social evils and other abuses like child labour, sexual harassment, diseases etc."
CBSE launches handicrafts skill module for classes 6 to 8 | Here're details

The publication was launched by Manoj Ahuja, IAS, Chairman CBSE in Delhi. The module has been put together with a focus on practical activities and will give hands-on experience to the students. This handbook will cover two modules, paper mache and fashion jewellery. The student’s handbook/workbook on ‘handicrafts’ shall be available on the academic website of CBSE.

DoE issues circular to start teaching-learning activities in Govt schools

The action plan for the new session 2021-22 which includes a staggered approach for students to ease into the teaching-learning process has been divided into three stages. In the first stage, which will commence on June 28, the DoE has directed school authorities to contact students and parents, update their details and make WhatsApp groups and prepare a list of students with smartphones, normal phones or no phone.
IIT-Delhi to launch new Post-Graduate programme in public policy
