IITs to offer new courses from academic year 2021-22 onwards | Here're details

While some of the courses are in the offline in-person setting, many other colleges have opted for online courses in view of the pandemic. The courses range from designing to public policy and have no age bar to them. Most of the courses can also be accessed by students and working professionals as they have not been made exclusively for the enrolled students of IITs.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has launched various new courses for the academic year 2021-2022. While some of the courses are in the offline in-person setting, many other colleges have opted for online courses in view of the pandemic.

The courses range from designing to public policy and have no age bar to them. Most of the courses can also be accessed by students and working professionals as they have not been made exclusively for the enrolled students of IITs.

Master in Design and Master in Innovation Management – IIT Roorkee

The recently established Department of Design (DoD) from IIT Roorkee has developed two new post-graduate programmes. Masters in Design (Industrial design) and masters in innovation management (MIM). They are set to launch in the academic year 2021-22.

MTech in Electric Mobility – IIT Delhi

The new post-graduate programme from IIT Delhi would be focused on the growing electric demand in various fields. The course is called MTech in Electric Mobility and will cover key aspects related to electric vehicles, drivetrain, chargers and charging infrastructure, battery energy storage systems, battery management system, reusability of energy storage elements. It will commence from the academic year 2021-22.

BTech in Energy Engineering – IIT Delhi

IIT Delhi has decided to convert its Centre for Energy Studies (CES) to the Department of Energy Science and Engineering. Along with this, a plan to launch new courses have been introduced as well, one of them being BTech in Energy Engineering.

Master of Public Policy (MPP) – IIT Delhi

The IIT Delhi will start a new postgraduate course “Master of Public Policy” (MPP) from 2021-22 academic session. The programme has been curated with a focus on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) and development. The course will be offered by IIT’s School of Public Policy (SPP).

Online MTech and MDes programme – IIT Hyderabad

IIT Hyderabad announced a total of seven courses and one online course for working professionals. These seven online MTech programmes have industrial metallurgy, EV technology, computational mechanics, integrated computational materials engineering, communication and signals processing (CSP), power electronics and power system (PEPS), and microelectronics and VLSI (ME & VLSI).


e-Masters programmes – IIT Kanpur

The e-Masters programme at IIT Kanpur is aimed at comfortable remote learning. There are a total of 4 new online courses that will be offered by IIT Kanpur in the academic year 20221-22. These courses include Communication Systems, Cybersecurity, Power Sector Regulation, Economics and Management, and Commodity Markets and Risk Management.


PG level programme in Applied Data Science and Machine Intelligence – IIT Madras

 IIT Madras has started a 12-month postgraduate (PG) level advanced programme in Applied Data Science and Machine Intelligence. The programme has been launched in partnership with TalentSprint.
