Official sources said that 5,726 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for the Valley on Thursday in two escorted convoys. "Of these, 2,109 are going to Baltal base camp while 3,617 are going to Pahalgam base camp," sources said. Yatris approach the cave shrine either from the Baltal route or from the traditional Pahalgam route.
Lucknow to get 108-ft-tall Hanuman statue

The statue will be installed at the 400-year-old Hanumat Dham on Devraha Ghat along the River Gomti. This will be the second tallest statue in the city after the proposed 151-foot-high statue of Lord Lakshman at the Jhulelal Park. It will almost be double in height than the iconic Rumi Gate. The statue has been designed by Sinha brothers -- Sanjay, Uday and Vijay -- who also designed the Ekana Stadium in the city.

Officials said the batch of 5,982 pilgrims left for the Valley in two escorted convoys from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu. "Of these 3,363 are going to Pahalgam base camp while 2,619 are going to Baltal base camp," officials said. After improvement in weather, the pilgrims were allowed to move towards the cave shrine from Baltal base camp in the day.

Pakistan man booked in UP for overstaying, obtained PAN and Aadhaar

According to the Kanpur police, one Alam Chand, a citizen of Pakistan, came to Kanpur in 1990 on a term visa and then settled here with his family. Although Chand claimed that he had legally obtained Indian citizenship in 2013, police said that the matter will be investigated. A complaint against Alam Chand was filed by one Alok Kumar, who claimed that Chand had illegally obtained Indian identity cards, like PAN and Aadhaar, and stayed on.
