"Manusmriti itself says that if you don't respect and honour women, all the 'puja path' that you may do will have no meaning," she said during a speech at a conference titled 'Challenges faced by women in science, technology, entrepreneurship and mathematics' held on Wednesday.The high court judge further said that we are lucky to be in a country like India which is progressive about women being in leadership roles. "I am not saying we need to ignore the violence and the bad things that happen to women at a lower level, but yes, at the higher level, at the middle level, we are seeing women growing," she said.
Coal smuggling: ED summons 8 IPS officers from Bengal to Delhi

Of the eight IPS officers who are being summoned between August 21-31, two are additional director ranking officials namely ADG of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Special Task Force (STF) of the state police, Gyanwant Singh and ADG of state Intelligence Branch (IB), Rajeev Mishra.Two of them are deputy inspector ranking officers, namely DIG (traffic division) of state police, Sukesh Kumar Jain and DIG of state civil defense, Shyam Singh. The ED and CBI, which are conducting parallel probes, have identified Asansol in West Burdwan district and portions of Purulia district as the epicentre of the scam.
Delhi govt makes wearing of masks mandatory at public places, fine on violators

The decision was taken by the DDMA after noticing that people were not adhering to wearing of masks at public places. The district administration has been directed to implement the decisions which were taken in the DDMA's meeting held in April. "The DDMA after examining all the relevant facts related to the issue of penal provisions for not adhering to the Covid protocol of wearing of masks at public places, decided that whereby not wearing of face mask/cover in all public places has been made an offence, a fine of Rs 500 for not wearing of face mask/cover in all public places in Delhi will be imposed," said a Delhi government notification.

A bench headed by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana said the matter could not be listed as one of the judges on the concerned bench had some health issues. The Chief Justice told Swamy, "We will list it". Earlier, a bench headed by Chief Justice and also comprising Justices Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli had agreed to list the plea for hearing on July 26. Swamy had mentioned the matter for hearing a couple of times in the apex court.
