ITO, Red Fort Metro stations shut over security reasons
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the ramparts of the iconic Red Fort. The Intelligence Bureau (IB) had issued five alerts, warning of a possible terror strike in the national capital and several cities. The law enforcement agencies have been warned that terrorists could have used IEDs during the flag hoisting ceremony on August 15 at the Red Fort. Apart from the counter-drone system, the police have also installed over 1,000 high-resolution CCTV cameras in the vicinity of the Red Fort.
Tricolour to fly atop temples in Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura
Around 8,000 temples in Ayodhya, including the makeshift Ram Janmabhoomi shrine, the Hanuman Garhi temple, Kanak Bhavan and the various mutts will hoist the national flag this Independence Day. Around 20,000 sadhus living in temples across Ayodhya will also take part in this campaign with the Hanuman Garhi temple taking the lead. Mahant Raju Das, priest of the Hanuman Garhi temple, said, "We have given the slogan Har Mandir Tiranga. All temples and maths in Ayodhya will unfurl the Tricolour. The tricolour will also fly at Hanuman Garhi."
'Golden joint' launched on Chenab Railway Bridge in J&K
The workers were seen celebrating and hoisting the national flag with love and pride right in the middle of the bridge at the golden joint. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav took to Twitter to showcase a video of the launch of the golden joint and the deck closure ceremony from the Chenab bridge. The 40-second video added in the tweet shows the workers celebrating atop the world's highest bridge as they have worked tirelessly for years to achieve this feat.

Meanwhile, the Covid positivity rate has declined to 12.34 per cent, and the number of active cases stands at 8,105, out of which 5,563 patients are being treated in home isolation. With 2,260 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has gone to 19,47,952, while Delhi's total caseload is 19,82,433 and the death toll has risen to 26,376. The number of Covid containment zones stands at 305.
Noida: Woman slaps e-rickshaw driver 17 times in 90 secs, arrested
The accused woman has been identified as Kiran Singh, a resident of Noida and a native of Agra. A police official told IANS that the incident followed a minor accident between the e-rickshaw and a Wagon car which was being driven by Singh. "The woman got out of the car and slapped the e-rickshaw driver multiple times," the official said. In the viral video, the accused woman could be seen slapping the e-rickshaw driver at least 17 times in just 90 seconds.
Shah Faesal appointed Deputy Secretary in Tourism Ministry
In an order issued two days ago, the Department of Personnel and Training appointed Faesal in the Tourism Ministry. Recently, Faesal had given an application seeking reinstatement in the services, which was accepted by the Union government. After two months, the Central government has given this responsibility to Faesal. Faesal had topped the IAS examination in 2010.
