PFI members were trained to deal with police, media

The new recruits in the PFI were reportedly made to attend lectures of their influencers (religious speakers). They were trained in self-defence and were made to attend human rights classes to protect them from police detention and arrests. Besides, they were also trained to answer media questions or use media houses in the time of a crisis.

Centre extends AFSPA in Nagaland, Arunachal for 6 more months

The notification issued by Home Ministry said that the AFSPA would be extended for six months beginning Saturday (October 1) in nine districts -- Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Phek, Peren and Zunheboto -- and 16 police stations areas in four other districts -- Kohima, Mokokchung, Longleng and Wokha -- of Nagaland.

Ram Balak Prasad, the grandfather of victim child Vivek, in a statement to the police said: "The school has organised Durga Puja inside the premises. There were some fruits (prasad) on a table and Vivek picked an apple from it and consumed it. Following the incident, the owners of the school kept Vivek in a room and brutally assaulted him.
