Delhi records second highest rainfall since 2007

Incessant rain since Saturday that continued till late Sunday night in the national capital has also led to significant drop in the temperature. Traffic jams and waterlogging were also seen in many areas of Delhi-NCR. According to the meteorological department, not much precipitation is expected in Delhi and nearby areas on Monday.
25 killed in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh

Most of the deaths have been reported in cases of house collapse. Water levels are rising in all major rivers in the state following uninterrupted rain during the past 48 hours. The state met department has issued a warning of moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday in eastern, central parts of the state, Bundelkhand, Terai Belt and Rohilkhand areas.
'Hate politics, Mumbai bomb blasts, riots': AIMPLB in SC on plea against Places of Worship Act

AIMPLB, in its plea quoted the finding of Srikrishna Commission set up to enquire into the causes of the riots in Mumbai in December 1992 and January 1993 and the causes of the serial bomb blasts that occurred in March 1993. "The unequivocal finding of the Commission is that the December 1992 riots were due to the hurt feeling that the Muslims felt by the shameful act of demolition of Babri Masjid on 6 December 1992 which were followed till January 1993," it said.
Just ahead of Delhi's smog season, farmers of Punjab & Haryana start setting fields on fire

Both states have two growing seasons: one from May to September and another from November to April. Many farmers rotate between crops, planting rice in May and wheat in November. Punjab annually generates 20 million tonnes of paddy straw and this is normally set on fire to quickly clear the fields for the next crop, resulting in choking of the National Capital Region (NCR) in October and November.
Tipu Express between Bengaluru and Mysuru renamed as Wodeyar Express

The Railways effected the change on Friday following a representation from Mysuru MP Pratap Simha to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in July this year. Simha had also requested that the express service between Mysuru and Talaguppe be named in honour of state poet Kuvempu. The Railways accepted both the suggestions and the orders will come into effect from Saturday.
Defiled in cattle hit, Vande Bharat Express train undergoes a 'nose-job'

The nose, made of FRP (fibre reinforced plastic) suffered an ugly rip-off as three-four buffaloes were run over between Vatva-Maninagar, near Ahmedabad, around 11.15 a.m., delaying the train by 10 minutes. However, even on Friday, the train with the new nose on the way to Gujarat suffered another similar accident with the front portion suffering a dent near Anand.
Delhi Excise Policy scam: ED raids 35 locations in 3 states

According to ED sources, the raids that started early Friday morning are underway in Delhi, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh. It was during interrogation of Sameer Mahendru, an accused in the central agency's custody, that they found out Punjab and Andhra Pradesh connections in the case. More teams in Hyderabad are carrying out raids on locations of few manufacturers and businessmen directly or indirectly involved in the scam.
Nine leopards serving 'life imprisonment' in Uttarakhand

The Chidiyapur Transit and Rehabilitation Centre built on Haridwar-Najibabad Highway houses nine leopards serving their "prison term". The imprisonment is such that the hope of release is negligible, and thus it becomes "life imprisonment". These "convicted" leopards include Ruby, Rocky, Dara, Munna, Jat, Mona, Gabbar and Joshi.
IIT Guwahati develops 3D printed sentry post for Army

Defence spokesman Lt Col Mahendra Rawat said that the prototype showcases the capability of rapid construction using 3D printed technology which can be utilised in the border areas where traditional construction is challenging due to inclement weather conditions, terrain and altitude limitations.
DMRC fails to comply with Delhi HC order to pay DAMEPL by Oct 4

The failure of DMRC to pay the outstanding amount is also a violation of the Delhi High Court order, which stated that "it is made clear that if the amount is not paid within four weeks, the court shall be constrained to call the appearance of the Managing Director of the DMRC before this court".
