Fiji to host World Hindi conference next year
"I can broadly indicate it's going to happen sometime in the first quarter of next year and it's being planned in Nadi and this event will be co-hosted by both the Government of India and Government of Fiji," Karthigeyan told The Fiji Times. Hindi is one of the three official languages spoken in the South Pacific nation, the other two being Fijian and English.

Uttarakhand: Record 42 L pilgrims visit Char Dham, 311 dead
In this Char Dham Yatra, since the last five years, the maximum number of pilgrims have also died. So far a total of 311 pilgrims have died in the yatra that began in May. Of this, 135 devotees have died while walking on foot in Kedarnath, the Uttarakhand Health Department said. According to the Health Department, 75 per cent of the total deaths were due to pre-existing serious illnesses and sudden heart attack, while 25 per cent died due to accidents. After two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this time the Char Dham Yatra has resumed without any restrictions.

Assam: Rhino hit by speeding truck spotted by drone
The incident happened on Sunday at the Haldibari animal corridor in Kaziranga National Park. A CCTV footage showed that after the rhino was hit by the speeding truck, it was thrown off balance and looked disoriented. The impact of the collision was such that it left the animal in complete shock and the rhino also lost its balance before it could somehow disappear into the forest. The vehicle was coming from Jorhat towards Guwahati on the highway.

An official statement on Tuesday said, "The Administrative Council approved incorporation of liberal provisions in Jammu and Kashmir Liquor License and Sale Rules, 1984 and Excise Policy, 2023-24 for grant of License JKEL-2A for retail sale of Beer and Ready to Drink (RTD) beverages in departmental stores in urban areas of UT."
2 LeT terrorists killed in J&K encounter identified
"On Sunday evening, acting on specific information generated by police regarding the presence of terrorists in Tangpawa area, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, Army (19RR) and CRPF (164Bn)," a police officer said. During the search operation, as the joint search party approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter.
