Several Congress workers were taken into custody for encouraging students to wear hijab. Barring students, teachers and staff of colleges, movement of other persons have been restricted in the surrounding areas of the colleges.

The fresh controversy over wearing headscarves erupted at a government college in Datia district. The row was triggered after a student wearing burqa-hijab was seen in the college following which students associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students' wing of the RSS, staged a protest raising 'Jai Shree Ram' sloguns.

According to an analysis report released by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) on Tuesday, 25 out of 55 candidates analysed from the BJP, 23 out of 59 candidates from BSP, 20 out of 56 candidates from the Congress and 11 out of 49 candidates from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.
K'taka HC resumes hearing pleas on hijab row
This is the third day of hearing by the three judge bench. The petitioner for girl students seeking order to attend classes wearing hijab will complete his submission through senior advocate Devdatt Kamat. On Monday, he had argued that the government can't deny fundamental rights to students in the pretext of managing law and order situations.
