Polling begins for Goa Assembly elections
As many as 301 candidates are in the fray in the single-phase assembly elections, where the ruling BJP is looking to score a hat-trick of victory. The party has been in power in the coastal state since 2012. The main parties in the fray includes the ruling BJP, Congress, AAP, Trinamool Congress, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), NCP, and the Revolutionary Goans (RGP), among others.
Uttarakhand votes to elect new government
In 2017 Assembly polls, the BJP won 57 of the 70 seats. The Congress won 11 and two independents won from their Assembly segments. Since its formation in 2000, power in Uttarakhand has changed every five years between the BJP and Congress. In this year, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is also trying to make its presence felt in the state by fielding candidates from all the 70 Assembly constituencies.

Defending his statement, MLA Khan has stated that he only gave his point of view and he doesn't know what others think on the issue. "The beauty of women is not supposed to be exposed. No one should set their eyes upon them. Muslim women have been wearing hijab since long back," he maintained.
Battle for UP: Polling for second phase begins across 9 districts
In this phase, nearly 2.02 crore voters will decide the fate of 586 contestants in nine districts that comprises 55 Assembly constituencies. The nine districts where polling is being held are Saharanpur, Bijnore, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun and Shahjahanpur.
Centre receives 16 proposals for metro projects from states/UTs
Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had told the Lok Sabha on February 10, that urban transport was an integral part of urban development, and while it is the responsibility of the state governments concerned to initiate, develop, and fund urban transport infrastructure including metro rail projects, the Central government considers financial assistance to such projects under the Metro Rail Policy, 2017.
After downsizing of security cover, former J&K CMs lose jammers, ambulances
The special security group (SSG) created for the security cover of chief ministers, including serving and former chief ministers, was downsized recently and the SSG cover of four former Chief Ministers, Dr Farooq Abdullah, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah was withdrawn. The security duties of the former Chief Ministers were assigned to the security wing of the local police.
Hijab row now erupts in MP's Satna
As per official information, the fresh controversy over wearing hijab-burqa erupted at an Autonomous PG College in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district on Saturday after an M.Com student Rukshana Khan arrived at the college wearing hijab to appear in the exam. In the mean time, students from other groups, including some associated with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
