Voter turnout at 1 pm: UP 39.07%, Uttarakhand 35.21% & Goa 44.63%

As per the Election Commission data, North Goa registered 44.14 per cent while South Goa registered 45.05 per cent voting till 1 p.m. The EC has put out a disclaimer that the data made available is approximate as data from some polling stations takes time to reach. In Goa, as many as 11,56,464 voters will cast ballots in the single-phase poll to decide the fate of 301 candidates on booths spread over 1,600 polling stations.
CRPF pays tribute to martyrs of Pulwama terror attack

The troopers of CRPF were killed when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a security forces convoy in the Lethpora area of Pulwama district on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. The ADG said that the endeavor of the CRPF is to maintain peace in the Valley and not let the sacrifices of their personnel go in vain.

India reports 24% decline, logs 32,113 new Covid cases

There were 346 additional fatalities, which took the nationwide death toll to 5,09,011. Active Covid cases have reduced to 4,78,882, which account for 1.12 percent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 91,930 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 4,16,77,641. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 97.68 per cent, said the Ministry.

It'll be down to the wire for BJP, SP in second phase of UP polls

In the last assembly elections in 2017, out of the 55 seats going to polls on monday, 38 went to the BJP, 15 to Samajwadi Party (SP) and two seats to the Congress as there was an alliance between SP and the Congress. Muslim candidates won 10 of the 15 seats they contested which all went to the SP.

President unveils gold statue of Ramanujacharya
