Donald Trump finally signs $2.3 trillion Pandemic Aid Bill, averts partial government shutdown

United States (US) President Donald Trump signed into law $2.3 trillion 'Pandemic Aid Bill' on Sunday that restores the benefits of unemployment to millions of US Citizens averting a partial federal government shutdown, news agency Reuters reported.

Trump is to leave office on January 20 as he lost the Presidential elections in November this year. He backed out of his threat to block the bill after facing intense pressure from lawmakers and Congress who approved the bill.

Trump posted a tweet on Twitter saying, "Good news on Covid Relief Bill. Information to follow!", but he did not explain anything about it. Many members of the Democratic party have agreed-upon $2,000 payments and at the same time, many Republican party members have opposed in the past. Though a section of economists agree with an increase in aid to have the economy moving again they also highlight the need to support the US citizens who urgently need support due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Unemployment benefits are currently accessible to 14 million beneficiaries through the bill that has been restarted by Trump on Sunday.
