Ukraine Receives Bodies of 140 Fallen Soldiers from Russia

The body count of Ukrainian servicemen rose to 140, all of whom fought bravery and courage to defend Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson from Russian aggression, confirmed by the agency responsible for prisoner of war affairs. In particular, five of them came from the Sumy region, which is not part of Russian territory but is greatly beyond the reach of Russian forces.

The authorities promised prompt arrangement for repatriation of the deceased to the grieving families.

Recognizing the tremendous work of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War thanked the Committee for its organization of the process of returning fallen soldiers and prisoners of war.

Despite the ongoing war, the sides continue to adhere to the rationale of swapping fallen soldiers and prisoners of war on a regular basis.

However, speculation about the number and status of Russian soldiers received in return, though unclear, rings in the ears.
