At the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Trump formally accepted the Republican nomination for presidency for the third time as he declared, "So tonight, with faith and devotion, I proudly accept your nomination for president of the United States."
Reflecting on the assassination attempt at a speech in Pennsylvania, Trump sent out a message of confidence and resilience regarding his vision for the future: united, prosperous, and free for Americans of all backgrounds. He implored the healing of societal divisions, saying, "As Americans, we are bound together by a single fate and a shared destiny. We rise together. Or we fall apart."
Trump called on the tragedy of Tuesday's attack, saying, "Despite such a heinous attack, we unite this evening more determined than ever. Our resolve is unbroken, and our purpose is unchanged—to deliver a government that serves the American People." He pledged all to the nation, saying, "Everything I have to give, with all of the energy and fight in my heart and soul, I pledge to our nation tonight."
Looking ahead, therefore, toward the coming election, Trump emphasized his readiness to discuss important questions concerning the country and to make America great again. He called for national unity: "In an age when our politics too often divide us, now is the time to remember that we are all fellow citizens—we are one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
Trump was thankful towards his wife Melania, and he introduced his running mate Senator J.D. Vance and his wife Usha as partners in his vision for the nation. He extended an arm of loyalty and friendship to all citizens with a promise to lead America higher than ever before.
Outlining his leadership goals, Trump promised respect for the United States by all nations around the globe, securing the borders, rebuilding the economy, and law and order. He lambasted the performance of the current administration regarding several crises and gave an assurance to act on inflation, illegal immigration, and foreign conflicts within the shortest time.
He wrapped up the speech with an emotional appeal for support: "So tonight, whether you've supported me in the past or not, I hope you will support me in the future because I will bring back the American Dream."
