U.S. President Donald Trump secretly encouraged Ukraine to ramp up its attacks inside Russian borders, even suggesting that Moscow might be a target if the U.S. were to provide long-range weapons, a Financial Times report said.
Quoting sources privy to the conversation, the report states that Trump, during a private conversation, inquired of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy whether his forces would be able to target strategic locations deep in Russia — Moscow included — if equipped with the required sophisticated weapons.
Financial Times reported that two people close to the discussion said that Trump brought up the possibility of Ukraine targeting strategic military targets within Russia, depending on U.S. support with long-range weapons.
Up to now, the White House has not released a comment to Reuters' inquiry about the story.
