Peskov's statements followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's comments during his annual press conference on Tuesday.

"The answer eludes us all. Even esteemed figures, our commanders, and our allies in the West, who suggest a prolonged war, cannot pinpoint the conclusion," remarked Zelensky during Tuesday night's press conference.

The meeting aims to underscore the U.S. commitment to supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russia. 

In an interview with NBC News, Zelensky also extended an invitation to Trump to visit Ukraine personally and witness the extensive devastation wrought by Russia's invasion that began in February 2022.

"We spoke about priorities for Ukraine, for defending how to survive during this next winter," Zelensky told reporters on Wednesday before attending a meeting with NATO defence ministers, Xinhua news agency reported.

The strike happened near Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region - close to the frontlines in the Donabas region - and a grocery store in Hroza village was hit, Zelensky said on his Telegram account, sharing pictures of the area.

During his address, Zelenskyy is likely to seek support from the country which is Kiev's staunchest supporter in war against Russia, CTV news reported.
