Pakistan’s Foreign Office responded on Tuesday, rejecting what it called "provocative" statements made by the Indian Prime Minister in his address. The office stressed that Modi’s remarks risked escalating the situation at a time when international efforts are focused on fostering regional peace and stability.

"Pakistan remains committed to the recent ceasefire understanding and continues to take necessary steps towards de-escalation and ensuring regional stability," the Foreign Office asserted.

Background to the conflict is India's precision strikes under 'Operation Sindoor,' which were conducted on May 7 targeting terror infrastructure in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Pakistan then sought to target Indian military camps on May 8, 9, and 10. The two nations agreed to put an end to the four-day fierce cross-border missile and drone attacks on Saturday.

Pakistan's Foreign Office also rejected the idea that the nation was pursuing a ceasefire due to "despair and frustration," calling it a "blatant lie." The statement went further to claim that India was creating a perilous precedent for aggression that could lead the whole region to the edge of disaster.

"The convention is that nobody will be permitted to question the principles and objectives of the UN Charter," the statement asserted, highlighting Pakistan's firm defense of its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of its people.

The Foreign Office clarified that Pakistan would be watching India's move in the coming days and invited the international community to do so as well.

Pakistan reaffirmed its support for the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir conflict peacefully, again endorsing President Donald Trump's initiative to mediate a resolution. President Trump had volunteered on Sunday to help India and Pakistan resolve the Kashmir conflict.

India has always held that the issue of Kashmir is bilateral and resists any third-party intervention in the conflict.
