West Indies' aspirations of securing a spot in the ODI World Cup, scheduled to be held in India in October-November, were shattered following their defeat to Scotland in a Super Six match of the Qualifiers in Harare on July 1.

The last time India played Tests in West Indies, they won both matches, with Blackwood only getting one innings to play and made 38 runs, coming in the match at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica as a concussion substitute. With the series marking the start of the 2023-2025 ICC World Test Championship cycle for both teams, Blackwood is eager to get going against India.

Charles blasted the South Africa attack all around the park on the way to his hundred, which he reached in just 39 balls. This was a maiden T20I hundred for Charles, who got 106 runs off boundaries in his ferocious knock. He was eventually cleaned up at 118 by a Marco Jansen yorker.

Johnson Charles had brought fireworks for the West Indies by striking a 39-ball century in the first innings. But Quinton De Kock smashed his maiden T20I century in the chase for South Africa in a blistering 152-run opening partnership in little more than 10 overs to set the base for South Africa completing the highest ever successful run chase in T20Is with seven balls to spare.

As per a report in Cricbuzz, the BCCI is contemplating having another short home series in June, in the ODI format, which could be held in the window between India playing against Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final from June 7-11 and departing for the West Indies in first week of July.

Klassen scored an unbeaten 119 and Marco Jansen 43 as South Africa reached 264/6 in 29.3 overs in response to West Indies's 260 all out in 48.2 overs. A stunning onslaught by Klaasen meant that South Africa took just 29.3 overs to chase down the target of 261, that West Indies had built on an even-ball 72 by Brandon King.
