King, Brooks guide West Indies to consolation win in final T20I vs New Zealand

King slammed 53 and his opening partner Brooks hit an unbeaten 56 as West Indies overhauled New Zealand's score of 145/7 for the loss of just two wickets with an over to spare and earn a consolation win going into the ODI series beginning on August 17. The Kiwi top-order all reached double figures during their respective innings, but only one batter scored more than 24 as the hosts' bowlers put the clamps on the visitors.

It was a match where West Indies had a brilliant fielding performance. Shimron Hetmyer took a one-handed catch on the ropes at deep point to remove Martin Guptill (16). Wicketkeeper Devon Thomas took a great catch to dismiss Devon Conway, and then Hayden Walsh dived full stretch at deep square leg to account for skipper Kane Williamson. All three catches came off the bowling of Smith.

But an admirable fightback from the West Indies bowling attack in the second half, with left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie and pacer Alzarri Joseph taking two wickets each, apart from the pitch slowing down later on meant the hosts' were able to India restrict to 308.
