West Indies batter Keacy Carty became the first player from the island of Sint Maarten to score an international hundred as the Caribbean side compiled an emphatic eight-wicket victory over England at Kensington Oval to seal the ODI series 2-1.
Carty's maiden international century, 128 not out off 114 balls, marked with 15 fours and two sixes, bailed the West Indies out of a tricky chase as they achieved the 263/8 scored by England with seven overs still in hand.
Carty was making his 50th appearance in international cricket for the West Indies; and he made the most of the chance to make his first triple-figure score against an English attack that had everything to test him.
Opener Brandon King played a good anchored innings along with the supporting Carty as they put on a threatening 209-run partnership for the second wicket against West Indies, giving the home team an upper hand.
Earlier, fast bowler Matthew Forde made an early breakthrough into the English innings, taking 3/46 and dismissing Will Jacks in his second over when England was finding itself floundering at 24 for 4.
Though the tourists steadied with the middle order contributions from Dan Mousley (57), Sam Curran (40), and Jofra Archer (38 not out), a total of 263 for 8 proved insufficient.
With the West Indies needing 264 to win the series, Carty and King came out swinging from the get-go and built a good partnership, showed their skill and composure, before in-form skipper Shai Hope (5*) came in at the end to help seal the result.
King was awarded the Player of the Match for his sedate innings as a West Indies opener, while Forde won the Player of the Series award taking eight wickets in the three contests.
Brief Scores:
