India's chances not only depend on their result in these two matches but also the clash between Afghanistan and New Zealand. India, the 2007 T20 World Cup winner, are currently fourth in the group with two points from three games, They are tied with Namibia at two points with a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.073, behind Pakistan (8 points) at the top and Afghanistan and New Zealand with four points each.

India batted poorly, lost wickets early, and never recovered as they could manage only a meagre 110 after being asked to bat first by New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson. They could not claim early wickets as Daryl Mitchell (49 off 35 balls) and Kane Williamson (33 not out off 31 balls) led New Zealand to an eight-wicket victory on Sunday.
