Uttarakhand calls off Kanwar Yatra, UP keeps it on

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure that only a minimum number of people should participate in the annual Kanwar Yatra and strict implementation of Covid protocols, particularly social distancing, must be ensured. While the Uttarakhand government has called off the Kanwar yatra, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to go ahead with the same but with Covid safety protocols.
UP on track to beat Covid as active caseload drops below 1.5K

Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday witnessed the steepest decline in the number of fresh cases as the state logged below 60 new infections for the first time in over four months. This is the lowest single-day tally recorded in the state since February-end. The active caseload in Uttar Pradesh has come down to 1,479, of which 1,186 people are under home isolation, while the percentage of active cases as against the total confirmed cases is just 0.1 per cent.
Will create imbalance: VHP objects to UP's proposed 1-child policy

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has written a letter to the Uttar Pradesh State Law Commission, seeking removal of the one-child norm from the draft of its Population Control Bill. In a two-page letter, the VHP said that it agreed with the objects of the draft Bill but certain sections need to be reconsidered as they go 'beyond the said objectives'.
38 killed in lightning strike in UP, Yogi orders relief

At least 38 people were killed in eleven districts of Uttar Pradesh, after being struck by lightning, thunder and rain. The deaths occured on Sunday evening. Fourteen people died in Prayagraj, five in Kanpur Dehat, three each in Firozabad and Kaushambhi and two each in Unnao and Chitrakoot after lightning struck them.

The video journalist who was allegedly thrashed by chief development officer (CDO) Divyanshu Patel during panchayat polls here, has finally accepted truce. The journalist, Krishna Tiwari, and the officer were also seen offering sweets to one another. A photo of this also went viral on social media. The journalist Tiwari said that the officer had unknowingly hit him due to some confusion and had apologized for his deed.

Mayawati's statement comes after Congress had flayed the party alleging that the "B" in BSP stood for the BJP. "The 'B' in BSP stands for 'Bahujan' which includes Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and religious minorities. Panchayat poll results show farm protests have no impact in western UP: BJP

The saffron party has won all the Zila Panchayat polls except one in Baghpat, but also won Muzaffarnagar, the home district of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait. The saffron camp believes that the result has built a positive atmosphere in favour of BJP among voters and cadre ahead of next year's polls and also exposed the so-called farmer leaders.
