UP man returns from Kabul with haunting memories

As Rajesh Pandey, a worker at an iron grill factory back in Kabul sits with his family in Jaunpur Mudiyari village he remembers how he left behind many of his belongings in Kabul and recalls: "There was a state of anarchy when the Taliban took over. We had to struggle for over 10 hours to cover a distance of 8 km to reach the airport. It was scary with bombings and firings all around."

Poet Munawar Rana's son arrested for faking attack

Tabrez Rana, who is embroiled in an ancestral property dispute with his uncle, was arrested by the Rae Bareli police from Lalkuan locality in Lucknow, late on Wednesday night. Rana, who wanted to contest the state assembly elections from Tiloi in Rae Bareli, had staged the attack on himself to get security and media coverage, besides implicating his uncles, the police official said.
UP tops in milk production in India

Milk production has gone up from 277.697 lakh metric tonnes in 2016-17 to 318.630 lakh metric tonnes in 2019-20 in UP. In the last four years, 1,242.37 lakh metric tonnes of milk has been produced in the state.Six big companies, including Amul, have set up their dairy plants at the cost of Rs 172 crore in UP in the last four years while work is underway to establish seven others.
Row over BJP flag being placed over national flag

The photo, tweeted by the BJP, shows the body lying in state, draped by the Tricolour, but half of it was seen to be covered up by the party flag. The party flag was placed on Singh's body over the national flag by BJP President J.P. Nadda and state BJP President Swatantra Dev Singh. Samajwadi Party spokesperson Ghanshyam Tiwari criticised the BJP on the issue.

Aligarh BJP MP Satish Gautam, said: "The funeral procession will begin from the stadium at 9 a.m. on Monday. After a brief halt at Atrauli, it will reach Dibai where the last rites will take place around 3 p.m." Chandrapal Singh, a close aide of late leader, said: "He always chose Atrauli over Dibai, but maintained that Aligarh is his 'Janambhoomi' while Bulandshahr his 'karambhoomi'. Therefore, he is being cremated in Dibai."
Kalyan Singh - the man who lived life on his terms

Born on January 5, 1935 in Aligarh, Kalyan Singh belonged to a family of farmers and was associated with the RSS since his early years. He grew up to become a teacher and then joined politics. He contested his first election in 1967 on a Jan Sangh ticket and reached the state Assembly. He won nine state elections and first became a minister in 1977.
Ex-UP CM Kalyan Singh passes away after prolonged illness

Singh was admitted to the ICU of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) on July 4 in a critical condition. On Saturday, his condition worsened due to kidney infection. He breathed his last at 9.15 pm. Singh's body has been brought to his Mall Avenue residence where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his Cabinet colleagues paid tribuites to the departed soul.

UP Polls: Nishad Party takes U-turn, promises to support BJP

Sanjay Nishad met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president J.P. Nadda in Delhi on Saturday evening and later he communicated his decision to the media. "The Nishad community is committed to form a government with the BJP in 2022 to restore its lost glory," he said. He said that he has also asked the BJP to restore the rights of Nishads on ponds and water bodies in every gram sabha.
