This is the first meeting after the BJP won a second term in state in the Assembly elections in March. According to BJP general secretary Govind Narain Shukla, state party chief Swatantra Dev Singh held a meeting to finalise the agenda of the working committee.

Bypoll to the Champawat seat, which was vacated for Dhami by Kailash Chandra Gehtori, is scheduled to be held on May 31. The results will be declared on June 2. Yogi will be seen appealing to voters to vote in support of Dhami in Champawat assembly constituency on Saturday. The UP CM will also address an election rally on Saturday.

According to the government spokesman, under the National Rural Livelihood Mission in Uttar Pradesh, women of self-help groups (SHG) are being given free sewing training and under the Mission Shakti Abhiyan, women's special protection teams are working to sensitise women and daughters.

This is almost double the size of Rs 3,46,935 crore budget presented by Akhilesh Yadav government for the financial year 2016-17. It includes new schemes worth Rs 39,181.10 crore. The state government has also announced budgetary provision worth crores of rupees to strengthen the police and maintain law and order in the state.

There are growing whispers in the corridors of power about the discomfort being experienced by the Ministers in their new schedule which makes it mandatory for them to visit districts and spend at least 24 hours in one of them every week. To make matters worse, Yogi has directed that the Ministers can only stay in government guest houses or circuit houses, not hotels.

Yogi Adityanath earned the title of "Bulldozer Baba" from his political opponent in UP -- the Samajwadi Party's leader Akhilesh Yadav, who gave him the nickname to attack him during the elections. Chouhan was popular as Mama' due to the several beneficiary schemes launched for girls by his government in the past. A Bhopal based BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma put up several hoarding/banners with photos of Shivraj and bulldozers addressing Chouhan as Bulldozer Mama'.

The Chief Minister thereafter will visit all 18 divisions in the state to take stock of the ground realities of different development projects. According to official sources, the Chief Minister will visit Jhansi on May 7. In every division, he will see the progress report of wheat procurement during his review meetings.

"I wholeheartedly congratulate and stand grateful to the Yogi Government for having removed loudspeakers, specially the masjids (mosques)," Raj said. He said that unfortunately in Maharashtra, there are no such Yogis' (hermits), but only 'Bhogis' (hedonists). Raj said he prayed at the feet of Goddess Jagdambadevi and expressed hope that good sense would prevail even in Maharashtra.

Under the Modern Madrasa Scheme, instructions have been given for the investigation of the physical infrastructure facilities of madrasas in the state. A circular issued by the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Sub Secretary, Shakeel Ahmad Siddiqui, directed the formation of a committee for the examination of physical infrastructure facilities of madrasas in the state.

In order to promote sports talent and hone the skills of players coming out from the small villages and districts, the Yogi Government, in its second innings, has prioritised providing sports facilities to all the players. According to the government spokesman, the focus of the state government, which is engaged in realising the mission 'Khoob-Khelo-Khoob-Badho', is mainly on the players coming out of the villages.
