Kalyani, the MLA from Raigunj assembly constituency in North Dinajpur district, officially continues to be an elected BJP legislator, several media reports, and video clippings of news channels show Kalyani joining Trinamool Congress in October last year. Already, a petition filed by the BJP is pending in the Calcutta High Court demanding disqualification of party legislators joining the ruling Trinamool Congress after the 2021 Assembly elections. The post of the PAC Chairman became vacant after Mukul Roy, officially still a BJP legislator, resigned from the chair on health grounds on June 27.

The lone All India Secular Front (AISF) legislator in West Bengal Assembly, Nawshad Siddiqui made this allegation by releasing a video message which he shared with a section of the media. To recall, AISF contested the 2021 West Bengal Assembly polls in alliance with Left Front and Congress. Siddique has started his video message with the reference Maji.

The question that is also haunting the party leadership is whether these results are signs of what the Trinamool Congress could be facing in the Tripura assembly polls next year. The by-polls were held in four assembly seats in Tripura -- Agartala, Jubarajnagar, Surma and Town Bordowali. Chief Minister Manik Saha contested from Town Bordowali and has won.

In the June 23 by-polls, result of which declared on Sunday, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won three seats including that of Chief Minister Manik Saha who has been elected to the state assembly for the first time from Town Bordowali defeating Congress candidate Asish Kumar Saha by a margin of 6,104 votes.

Officially, the Trinamool leadership is stating that her most likely absence in the meeting convened by Pawar will be because of her pre-scheduled appointment on that day. However, party insiders said that the actual reasons might be the growing grievances in the mind of the Chief Minister over certain developments since she convened a similar meeting on this count at New Delhi's Constitution Club on June 15.
Mamata Banerjee ignores AIMIM for opposition meet

The Trinamool Congress leader has invited 22 political parties to the meeting but ignored AIMIM. The presidential elections will take place on July 18 and the results will be declared on July 21. Like Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which is staying away from the meeting because of the invitation extended to the Congress party, AIMIM is also strongly opposed to sharing any platform with the Congress.
