DMK MP protests Bhoomi Pooja by only a Hindu priest

The DMK MP shouted at an official, and sought to know why the 'Imam' and Christian priest were not present. He also asked for the presence of atheist leaders as well as Dravidar Kazhagam representatives. "Do you have instructions or not that the government functions should not be held like this. Are you aware or not?" he asked an official.
AIADMK general council appoints EPS as interim general secretary

The general council meeting, which is being held at meeting at Vanagaram in Chennai, also annulled the dual leadership posts of coordinator and co-coordinator which was held respectively by O. Panneerselvam and Palaniswami.

EPS faction leaders meet OPS to settle dispute but latter unrelenting

The AIADMK General Council meeting will be held again on July 11 after the Madras High Court's division bench had ordered that no change must be made in the resolutions adopted at the June 23 meeting. This had upset the move of the EPS faction to get the General Council pass a new resolution making him the single General Secretary of the party.
Kamal Haasan to contest next Tamil Nadu Assembly elections

Kamal launched the MNM with the thought that he would fill the void of the passing away of AIADMK's J. Jayalalithaa and DMK's M. Karunanidhi, the two stalwarts of Tamil politics. However, the party could not do well, getting 3.7 per cent of the votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections but seeing its vote share decline to 2.6 per cent in the 2021 Assembly elections. Kamal himself had lost miserably to BJP's Vanathi Srinivasan from Coimbatore South Assembly seat.
'Genocide call': Subramanian Swamy asks EC to cancel DMK's registration

Subramanian Swamy demanded that the registration of the DMK must be cancelled for such "atrocious" statements by its leaders. He also urged the Election Commission to cancel DMK's election symbol and requested the poll panel to allow him to argue his case before it. He said that being a registered as a political party, such statements by DMK were against the Representation of Peoples Act.

However, after the DMK came to power, such groups have started rearing their heads and one such YouTube video is about the Hindu God Nataraja or Shiva that defames the 'Ananda Thandav' at the famed Chidambaram temple, Panneerselvam said.
Ensure social justice in the appointment of Judges: Stalin

Speaking at the foundation stone laying function at the Madras High Court here, Stalin requested that the Collegium may ensure the principle of social justice in the appointment of High Court and Supreme Court judges. "In this way, I consider that the principle of inclusiveness would be ensured in higher judiciary," Stalin said.
Eyeing comeback, Sasikala approaches Thevar community leaders

However, the stiff resistance from the faction led by former Chief minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami seems to be a major obstacle in her entry to the party. She has, according to sources close to her, met senior functionaries of the "powerful" Thevar community which she belongs to. As per the sources, the meeting was held at her T Nagar residence and the community elders have promised to pull the strings for her re-entry into the party.
