Sasikala urges DMK govt to buy sugarcane of all sizes for Pongal hampers

Sasikala said that the size of the sugarcane is based on the soil from where it was grown and that it was not in the hands of the farmers. The former AIADMK general secretary said that the government must not stick to the fixing of the size of sugarcane and buy sugarcane of all sizes from the farmers. It is to be noted that the state government was buying sugarcane from farmers at a rate of Rs 33 per piece.

Stalin transfers Namakkal custodial death case to CB-CID

Three police officers including two sub-inspectors and one constable were suspended from service after protests by the relatives of the deceased and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi before the Salem district collector's office. The police had arrested Kumar of Kottapati village in Namakkal district on charges of stealing gold ornaments at Senthamangalam. Subsequently, a disabled person Prabhakaran and his wife Hema were also taken into custody.
Jallikattu: Bull tamers want govt to provide jobs

The 21-year-old won the best bull tamer award and a two-wheeler sponsored by the DMK Youth wing president and son of Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin, Udayanidhi Stalin. Prabhakaran tamed 21 bulls after he took the field at round 4 and endured till round 7. M. Karthik Raja who had tamed 11 bulls won the second place and was awarded with an LED TV. Sivaganga Puliyur Sooravali won the best bull award and a car sponsored by the Chief Minister.

Over 500 bulls and 300 bull tamers are registered for the game that began in the morning. A person is announced as winner if he hangs on to the bulls' hump for a specified time. The bull owners are also given prizes if their animal was not tamed by anyone. PM to inaugurate 11 new govt medical colleges across TN on Jan 12

The new medical colleges are being established at an estimated cost of about Rs 4,000 crore, out of which around Rs 2,145 crore has been provided by the Centre and rest by the Tamil Nadu government. The districts in which the new Medical Colleges are being established are Virudhunagar, Namakkal, The Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Thiruvallur, Nagapattinam, Dindigul, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Ramanathapuram and Krishnagiri.
