Nobel Laureate Esther Duflo to join TN Eco Advisory Committee

Duflo is a French–American economist who is a professor of Poverty Alleviation and Development Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is the co-founder and co-director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, which was established in 2003. She is the wife of Nobel Laureate Abhijit Banerjee.
India remembers Shaheed Ram Prasad Bismil on his birth anniversary

Pandit Bismil immortalised Bismil Azimabadi's poem Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna by adopting it as a war cry during the freedom movement. As part of the Mahotsav celebrations, the Ministry of Culture will hold a special ceremony at Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh where Bismil was born on June 11, 1897 to Murlidhar and Moolmati.
1 lioness dead, 9 test positive for Covid in TN's Vandalur Zoo

The Vandalur Zoo in a statement said the lioness Neela died around 6.15 p.m. on Thursday. According to the zoo, Neela had been asymptotic and showed some nasal discharge only on Wednesday and had been treated immediately. Five lions in the Animal House-1 of the Safari Park Area on May 26, reportedly showed loss of appetite and occasional coughing.
No place for Sasikala, her family in AIADMK: Palaniswami

Speaking to reporters at the party headquarters here, Palaniswami said, "Sasikala is out of the AIADMK and she and her relatives don't have any place in the party. She has openly declared before the elections that she has moved away from politics. The voice clippings were her talk with the AMMK cadre but some elements are deliberately creating confusion and spreading wrong information."

Tamil Nadu allows Chinese Covid vaccine makers to bid unlike Mumbai

Cyclone Tauktae: Efforts on to alert Tamil Nadu fishers

The Tamil Nadu fisheries department state Commissioner J. Jayakanthan told IANS: "Most of the fishermen are from the western coast of Kanyakumari since the annual fishing ban is in effect on the eastern coast." Fishing officials said that while only 84 vessels have gone into the sea from the Thengapattanam coast, 150 fishing boats of Kanyakumari have ventured into the sea from the Kerala coast.
