No plans for Modi-Shehbaz meeting on sidelines of SCO summit
"No meeting is envisaged with the Indian Prime Minister," Foreign Office spokesman Asim Iftikhar told Dawn news. An official said though a brief courtesy meeting between the two was possible, they would not be holding talks saying none of the two sides have sought a meeting.
PM Modi likely to meet Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif during SCO summit
Modi had met then Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on December 25, 2015, when he had landed in Lahore in a surprise stop-over to the country while on his way back to Delhi after completing a day-long visit to Afghanistan. It was the first visit to Pakistan by an Indian Prime Minister in more than 10 years.
New opportunities for normalising India-Pak relations
Unlike his predecessor Imran Khan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is neither a demagogue nor a megalomaniac who lives in an alternate reality. Quite to the contrary, Shehbaz Sharif is an experienced politician who understands the imperatives of improving relations with India.
