China National Nuclear Corporation Overseas Ltd (CNOS) President and Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Member Power Muhammad Saeed Ur Rehman signed the MoU. On the occasion, the Prime Minister said the nuclear power project was a significant step towards economic cooperation between the two countries, Geo News reported.

"The agreement with the IMF has been unusually delayed and China once again came to our rescue," the premier said during a ceremony in Islamabad for signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Pakistan and China for the 1,200 MW Chashma-5 (C-5) nuclear power project. The country has barely enough currency reserves to cover one month's imports.

The PML-N Central General Council re-elected Shehbaz as party president for another four years in intra-party elections at a meeting here, reports The News. After his re-election, Shehbaz said he would hand over PML-N presidentship to Nawaz Sharif once he returned home.

Imran Khan said that politicians, including the incumbent rulers, were "powerless and they have no authority to conclude the dialogues". The establishment is the "real decision maker and power is concentrated" within the military, he was quoted as saying by Dawn.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister acknowledged that dialogue is deeply embedded in the political process, which helps democracy mature and evolve, The News reported. "Many political and constitutional breakthroughs occurred when political leaders sat across the table to craft a consensus," the premier said.

"(Khan) also conveniently forgets his own role in deepening economic challenges. From scrapping the IMF (International Monetary Fund) deal, he has always wished Pakistan to default. This is in addition to the adverse impact his politics of non-stop agitation, long marches, and dharna has had on the economy in terms of causing.

During his address to industrialists and businessmen in Karachi, Prime Minister Sharif said that Pakistan has successfully met all the stringent conditions imposed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), emphasising the government's commitment to completing the IMF programme, Samaa TV reported.

The claim was first made by British newspaper The Telegraph in a report claiming that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir, who was then serving as Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), brought to then Prime Minister Imran Khan's attention the allegations of corruption against his wife, Bushra Khan, in 2019.

"Imran Khan has relentlessly maligned and attacked the armed forces and the sitting Army chief and very cunningly prepared his cult with the slogans of 'Haqeeqi Azadi' aimed at inciting them for violence we witnessed on May 9," Sharif said. "Listen to his speeches and you will get your answers," he added, Samaa TV reported.

"All citizens be ready for peaceful protests as once again Constitution and SC destroyed, it is the end of the Pak dream", he said in a tweet, Express Tribune reported. The former Prime Minister condemned the arrests of PTI workers and protesters in the aftermath of his arrest and subsequent rioting last week.
