Mulayam to be cremated in Sefai on Tuesday

The mortal remains of the late Samajwadi patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav will be taken to his native village Sefai in Etawah later on Monday. In a tweet, the Samajwadi Party informed that the cremation of the late leader will be held in his village on Tuesday at 3.p.m. A party source said that it has been decided not to bring the mortal remains to Lucknow in view of torrential rains in the state capital.

Mulayam Singh Yadav passes away at 82

Mulayam Singh Yadav's son and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav tweeted about his demise. Mulayam Singh Yadav was 82 and had been on life support system since the past one week. He was admitted to the Medanta hospital in Gurugram on August 22. According to hospital sources, he breathed his last at 8.15 a.m. on Monday.

Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is in the ICU of a Gurugram hospital, is "quite critical", the hospital said on Sunday. The Medanta hospital said that he is on life saving drugs, and being treated in the ICU by "a comprehensive team of specialists". The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister was admitted in the hospital for the treatment and shifted to the ICU when his condition worsened.

The Gola Gokarannath Assembly seat in Lakhimpur Kheri fell vacant following the demise of BJP MLA Arvind Giri last month due to heart attack. The BJP has fielded the deceased legislator's son Aman Giri while the Samajwadi Party has named its former MLA, Vinay Tiwari, as the party candidate for the Assembly bypoll. It will be the first bypoll in Uttar Pradesh after the Samajwadi Party lost its citadels -- Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha seats -- to the BJP in June in parliamentary by-elections.

The 82-year-old former Uttar Pradesh CM Mulayam Singh Yadav has been undergoing treatment at the Medanta Hospital for several days. However, he was shifted to the ICU after his condition became serious on Sunday. According to reports, his son Akhilesh Yadav along with wife Dimple Yadav also reached Medanta hospital after his father was shifted to the ICU.
Akhilesh Yadav becomes SP President for third time

Samajwadi Party's secretary general Prof Ram Gopal Yadav said Akhilesh Yadav was the only candidate for the post. Akhilesh became SP President for the first time at an emergency meeting of the party in January 2017 when he took over the reins of the party from his father Mulayam Singh Yadav.
