Opposition to protest against inflation in Parliament
AAP member Raghav Chaddha has moved suspension of business notice over discussion on MSP Committee and Tiruchi Siva of DMK on hike of LPG in the Upper House. AAP's Sanjay Singh has moved notice on GST in the house. Proceedings in both the Houses were adjourned for the day on Tuesday after the opposition members clamoured for discussion on GST rates hike, price rise, Agnipath scheme and other issues.
Cong to protest on GST, price rise & Agnipath
On Monday, both the Houses could not function amid the demand for discussion on price rise and GST. The Rajya Sabha, on the first day of the Monsoon session on Monday, witnessed strong protests by the opposition benches demanding discussions on Agnipath, hike in GST rates and other issues, leading to the House being adjourned for the day.

On the first day of the session, the Presidential election will be held in which members of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will vote to elect a new President. The BJP, which has played a masterstroke by fielding tribal woman Draupadi Murmu as its Presidential candidate, is eyeing to win by a huge margin. During the Monsoon Session, Vice-Presidential poll will be held on August 6.
24 new bills to be introduced in monsoon session
Four other bills have been referred to the standing committee: Wild Life (Protection) Amendment Bill, 2021; Anti-Maritime Piracy Bill, 2019; Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens (Amendment) Bill, 2019; and National Anti-Doping Bill, 2021. The one bill which has been introduced in Lok Sabha but not sent to standing committee is Indian Antarctic Bill, 2022.
Parliament's Monsoon Session to begin from July 18
"The ninth session of the 17th Lok Sabha will commence on Monday, July 18, 2022. Subject to exigencies of government business, the session is likely to conclude on Friday, August 12, 2022," a notification from the Lok Sabha Secretariat said. The session will encompass the elections for the posts of President and Vice President.

These by-elections will be held for Sangrur Parliamentary constituency in Punjab, and Rampur and Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh while the Assembly constituencies are Agartala, Town, Bordiwala, Surma (SC), and Jubrajnagar in Tripura, Atmakur in Andhra Pradesh, Rajinder Nagar in Delhi and Madar in Jharkhand.
Efforts on to conduct Winter Session in new Parliament building: MoS
With plans afoot to hold the Winter Session of Parliament in the new building, the Union government aims to complete the construction of the new Parliament complex by October this year. Kaushal Kishore, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, told IANS that efforts are on to conduct the Winter Session of Parliament in the new building this year.
Hungarian parliament elects Katalin Novak as president
Novak, nominated by the ruling Fidesz Party, which with its ally, the Christian Democratic People's Party, holds 133 seats in the 199-member parliament, won the election in a vote of 137 to 51, and will take office on May 10, Xinhua news agency reported. The Hungarian president, whose duties are largely ceremonial, is elected by the parliament, and a candidate must receive a two-thirds majority of all incumbent members of parliament.
