Nepal stops importing all poultry items from India

The ban came into effect on Thursday. Nepal's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has directed all its offices to halt the import of poultry items from India, which is the primary market for the Himalayan nation's multi-billion poultry industry.

KP Sharma Oli government in Nepal is looking to hold the foreign minister-level Joint Commission meeting that will see Nepal foreign minister Pradeep Gyawali visiting India, Nepal’s ambassador to India Nilambar Acharya told the Times of India. The ambassador spoke for the first time ever since the KP Sharma Oli government decided to dissolve the lower house of the parliament last week which translated into huge political unrest in the country.

Leaders from the opponent camp were not invited to the meeting. Oli's rival camp, led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda, will also hold its own meeting later in the day. During the meeting, the Prime Minister announced the strength of the central committee will increase from the present 446 to 1,119. It has been decided that 556 members will be added to that committee immediately, whereas 197 others will be incorporated later.

Oli's recommendation to dissolve the House on Sunday was swiftly approved by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari without any delay has invited politics of chaos and mayhem. Along with the House dissolution, Oli has also recommended to conduct the mid-term elections on April 30 and May 10, 2021.

The announcement came after Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, earlier in the day, recommended dissolution of the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament at an emergency Cabinet meeting. The recommendation to dissolve the House came two years prior to its term.
