One week in office, Nepal PM fails to expand his Cabinet
Deuba, who was backed by his own party Nepali Congress, Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Janata Samajbadi Party, Janamorcha Nepal, 22 lawmakers belonging to the opposition, and Nepal Communist Party-UML, is struggling to expand his five-member Cabinet. On July 13, Deuba, after being sworn-in as the Prime Minister, had formed a five-member Cabinet.
Nepal PM Sher Bahadur Deuba wins vote of confidence in Parliament
House Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota read out the results of the vote, in which Deuba received 165 votes while 84 parliamentarians voted against him. While the lower house currently has 271 members, only 249 lawmakers were present for voting as some boycotted the voting and some were absent.
Deuba takes oath as new Nepal PM, forms small Cabinet
Deuba also formed a small cabinet and administered the oath of office and secrecy following the oath taking ceremony at the President's office. The oath-taking ceremony was delayed after Deuba refused to take the oath saying that a statement issued by the President's office didn't mention that he was appointed as per Article 76 (5) of the Constitution.
Deuba appointed new Nepal PM
The development came a day after the Supreme Court overturned former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli's decision to dissolve Parliament and directed Bhandari to appoint Deuba as the Prime Minister. Already appointed as the Prime Minister four times previously, Deuba, 69, will now take charge of the Himalayan nation for the fifth time. He is leading an alliance of four parties.
457 mountaineers climbed Everest this spring
A total of 457 mountaineers, including Sherpa guides, scaled Mount Everest during the 2021 spring season, Nepal's Department of Tourism said. The feat was achieved despite reports about climbers infected with Covid-19 and reduced weather windows due to snowfall and winds in the Himalayas caused by two back-to-back cyclones, TaukTae and Yaas.

Nepal SC reinstates House, orders Prez to appoint Deuba as PM
A five-member constitutional bench led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana issued the rulingstating that President Bhandari's decision to dissolve the House of Representatives upon a recommendation of Oli was "an unconstitutional act". The court also ordered the President to appoint Deuba, who had presented his majority during the election process on May 24, as the new Prime Minister by Tuesday evening.
Nepal's new Foreign Minister seeks India's support for Covid vaccines
The Nepalese Foreign Minister made the request to Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra, who paid a courtesy call on him and handed over the congratulatory message of Indian Foreign Minister, S. People responded by fleeing their home following the jolts, according to officials.
Oli reappointed as Nepal PM
Oli, who was reappointed on Monday night, is planning to take the oath of office and secrecy on Friday afternoon, according to his office. Sher Bahadur Deuba, leader of the primary opposition Nepali Congress party, was the frontrunner for the post of Prime Minister but he couldn't garner a majority vote as fourth largest party, Janata Samajbai Party (JSP), was divided to support Oli.
