Now transfer WhatsApp chat history from Android to iPhone
The company said that the beta will start to roll out slowly, starting Wednesday, but it will take about a week to reach all users. "We are adding to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption," Zuckerberg said in a blogpost.

The investigation goes back "several years" and is scrutinising Meta employees' work on Sandberg's personal projects, Engadget reported, citing The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). When Sandberg first announced her departure from the company, WSJ reported the company was examining whether she had improperly used company resources in planning her upcoming wedding. Now, the report has shed a little more light on the investigation.
Meta's AR glasses will only be available to developers in first release
A person familiar with the matter told The Verge that the tech giant has decided to distribute them to developers initially so they can build software experiences for the device and future versions. The company is also shelving plans to release a smartwatch with a detachable display and two cameras in favor of a design better suited to control a later version of the glasses.
Santosh Janardhan to replace Meta's head of engineering David Mortenson
Following the recent exit of Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg and head of AI Jerome Pesenti, now top engineering executive David Mortenson is reportedly stepping down and will be replaced by Santosh Janardhan. According to an internal memo obtained by The Verge, Santosh Janardhan, one of Mortenson's direct reports and a current VP of engineering, will assume the role later this month. A spokesperson for Meta, Jon Carvill, confirmed the change.
After Meta's COO, another top executive to depart soon
The company said that Jerome Pesenti, Meta's VP of AI, will depart in mid-June after helping it through the early stages of the AI transition. "We are grateful for the incredible work Jerome has done over the past over four years in building, leading, and scaling a world-class AI function for Meta," the company said in a blogpost.
"In the new model we will distribute the ownership of these AI systems back to Meta's product groups," it added.
Sheryl Sandberg departs after 14 years as Meta COO
"Fourteen years later, it is time for me to write the next chapter of my life. I am not entirely sure what the future will bring... I have learned no one ever is. But I know it will include focusing more on my foundation and philanthropic work, which is more important to me than ever given how critical this moment is for women," Sandberg said in a Facebook post late on Wednesday.
Facebook's parent company to change stock ticker to META on June 9
The company said this is will replace the company's current ticker symbol 'FB', which has been used since its initial public offering in 2012. "The new ticker symbol aligns with the company's rebranding from Facebook to Meta, announced on October 28, 2021," the company said in a blogpost. "No action by the company's shareholders is required with respect to the ticker symbol change.

Meta freezes hiring for several verticals, Zuckerberg says no job cuts
According to The Verge, Meta has frozen hirings for a number of products. The company recently stopped hiring for certain engineering roles and also for low-level data scientists. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, however, allayed the fears of job losses at the company.
