Meta (formerly Facebook) on Tuesday extended its collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to provide digital skill training for 10 lakh tribal youth and women in the country. The tech giant launched the second phase of the �Going Online As Leaders' (GOAL) programme that will aim to digitally upskill, connect and empower 10 lakh youth and women from the tribal communities of the country.
Facebook Pay now becomes Meta Pay

"But beyond the current features, we are working on something new -- a wallet for the metaverse that lets you securely manage your identity, what you own, and how you pay," the CEO said in a Facebook post.

Now transfer WhatsApp chat history from Android to iPhone

The company said that the beta will start to roll out slowly, starting Wednesday, but it will take about a week to reach all users. "We are adding to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption," Zuckerberg said in a blogpost.

Meta's AR glasses will only be available to developers in first release

A person familiar with the matter told The Verge that the tech giant has decided to distribute them to developers initially so they can build software experiences for the device and future versions. The company is also shelving plans to release a smartwatch with a detachable display and two cameras in favor of a design better suited to control a later version of the glasses.
Santosh Janardhan to replace Meta's head of engineering David Mortenson

Following the recent exit of Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg and head of AI Jerome Pesenti, now top engineering executive David Mortenson is reportedly stepping down and will be replaced by Santosh Janardhan. According to an internal memo obtained by The Verge, Santosh Janardhan, one of Mortenson's direct reports and a current VP of engineering, will assume the role later this month. A spokesperson for Meta, Jon Carvill, confirmed the change.
After Meta's COO, another top executive to depart soon

The company said that Jerome Pesenti, Meta's VP of AI, will depart in mid-June after helping it through the early stages of the AI transition. "We are grateful for the incredible work Jerome has done over the past over four years in building, leading, and scaling a world-class AI function for Meta," the company said in a blogpost. "In the new model we will distribute the ownership of these AI systems back to Meta's product groups," it added.
Sheryl Sandberg departs after 14 years as Meta COO
