US imposes sanctions on Russia's major financial institutions, Putin's daughters
According to a factsheet from the White House detailing the measures, the US on Wednesday imposed full blocking sanctions on Russia's largest financial institution, Sberbank, and the country's largest private bank, Alfa Bank, freezing any of the two banks' assets in the US financial system and prohibiting Americans from doing business with them.
US chipmaker Intel suspends all operations in Russia
Intel said it continues to join the global community in condemning Russia's war against Ukraine and calling for a swift return to peace. "Effective immediately, we have suspended all business operations in Russia. This follows our earlier decision to suspend all shipments to customers in Russia and Belarus," the US tech giant informed. Meanwhile, manufacturers of foods that contain sunflower oil, like crisps, oven chips and cereal bars, are reworking their recipes. The Food Standards Agency has advised people with allergies to look out for extra information from shops and food makers.
