Amend references to victim's identity in Tarun Tejpal judgement: HC to Goa Court

The High Court's single bench of Justice SC Gupte said that the alterations to the judgement should be made in three days, before the order is uploaded to the court's online portal for public viewing, after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta pointed out that the order by the Additional District and Sessions judge Kshama Joshi contained references to the victim's husband and her email id.

The judgement was passed on May 21, but excerpts of the 500-odd page judgement were made available in the public domain late on Tuesday, that also pointed out to loopholes in the police investigation into the eight-year-old crime, in which Tejpal was accused of allegedly raping his junior colleague in the elevator of a five star resort in North Goa in 2013.

The row broke late on Sunday, after senior counsel Arvind Datar, who was holding brief for Goa in the Mhadei dispute case in the apex court, told a local news channel that in 2019 he had been directed by the Goa government to not object to Karnataka's plea to the Supreme Court seeking directions to the central government to notify the award of the Mhadei Water Dispute Tribunal.

He told the Assembly in a written reply tabled on Wednesday that nearly 20 per cent of the work had been completed till date. The airport is located on the Mopa plateau in North Goa. "Mopa airport's construction is in progress. The first phase is expected to be commissioned in 2022. The physical progress up to December 12, 2020, is 19.59 per cent," Sawant said.
